I just started knitting a square until i thought it was long enough, then started decreasing until the yarn ran out, and did one more panel, then sewed them together. Here are the materials before felting:

Next I ran it through the washing machine, and stuffed it with grocery bags to form a shape:

Here's the finished project, the scale really changed. Its width isn't much smaller, but its shorter:
